Barcelona Transport

From the Airport (El Prat) to the City Center

There are several options in order to get from the airport in Barcelona to the city center.

Clearly, the cheapest option is to go by train. The price for a single trip is € 2.55, and you can even get it cheaper by using the T-Casual-Ticket (€ 1.22 per trip as of 2024). The train usually leaves two times per hour.

The big drawback is that the train only leaves from Terminal 2. There is a free shuttle bus between Terminal 1 and 2, but it might take 15 – 20 minutes.

The fastest option is probably the bus. The Aerobus operates between both terminals and the city center several times an hour. It takes about 35 minutes to get to the city, and one trip costs € 6.75 (€ 11.65 for a Roundtrip).

Another option is to go by Metro. You can take the Metro from both Terminals. A Billet Aeroport costs € 5.50 one-way. (Please note that you can’t use the T-Casual Ticket to go to or from the airport by metro.

The last option is to go by taxi, which should cost you around € 35 going to the city center.

How to get around Barcelona

Depending on how long you are going to stay it might be worth it to buy a T-Casual Ticket (10 trips ticket) for 11,35 €. (It’s already worth it starting from 6 trips!) You can use this ticket on the Metro, buses, and trains in the city during your time in Barcelona. You can purchase the T-Casual Ticket at the airport and at any train- or Metro Station.

There are also Day-Passes, but since you can walk almost everywhere, it’s most of the time not necessary. (Many visitors told me they regret having purchased this ticket). Anyway, if you don’t have much time or can’t walk long distances for any reason, a day pass might be useful. You can purchase them online here.
